No matter what you might think about the quality of Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Resident Evil” film franchise, the series was incredibly popular and spans six total films. And sticking with the horror trend, you had to know that the final film in that series, ‘The Final Chapter,’ wouldn’t actually be the last one, right?

Five short years after that ‘Final Chapter,’ “Resident Evil” is back with ‘Welcome to Raccoon City,’ sporting a new coat of paint and a new tone that sheds the campy, action-filled fun of the previous films. This time, “Resident Evil” is all about the horror and is sticking to its video game roots, bringing familiar characters back to the franchise in a film that sure does love a jumpscare, if the trailer is to be believed.
The new reboot stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue, and Neal McDonough. ‘Welcome to Raccoon City’ comes from director Johannes Roberts, who is probably best known for his films “47 Meters Down” and “The Strangers: Prey At Night.” However, for the new “Resident Evil” film, Roberts debuts as a feature writer, wearing multiple hats for the first time.
“Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” debuts in theaters on November 24. You can watch the trailer below.
