With Marvel's upcoming slate featuring a trio of sequels — "Iron Man 3," "Thor 2" and a follow-up to "Captain America: The First Avenger" — speculation has been running high and wide about what their next standalone movie character might be. We're not going to run through them all again, but remember, it was just a couple of weeks ago when Marvel honcho Kevin Feige said there were two more unannounced movies in the works. And if this report is accurate, you can probably knock off one of them.
According to Latino Review's multiple sources, Black Panther will be the next Marvel hero to get a standalone movie. And we have to say, it's a pretty ballsy move. The character is certainly lesser known than some of the other options Marvel has at their disposal, but it's one they've been hinting at for a while. As savvy, Easter Egg-hunting fans know, as far back as "Iron Man 2," the seeds were planted with the the fictional African nation of Wakanda first glimpsed on one of Tony Stark's computer screens. And as comic fans also know, vibranium, the material that is used to make Captain America's shield, is also found in Wakanda. Finally, Black Panther is perhaps best known as part of "The Avengers," and when that inevitable sequel arrives, will they be bulking up the team with one more character?
Of course, none of this is official and it could be wrong, but many of the pieces fit into place and also remember, Mark Bailey was hired to write a script more than a year ago. We recenty had heard separately that Black Panther was going to be set up/cameo in the sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger," and with this bit of news, that seems to make a lot of sense. Moreover, this is a character Marvel has been trying to bring to the big screen for years (they got the rights back in 2005) and now that they're flying very high off the back of "The Avengers," they can afford to do something a little bit unconventional. So we'll see how this news develops…
But if Black Panther is on the way, any ideas on who should play the role?
Go and get that young black guy Steven Fry from East Texas?
Idris Elba would have been nice but Marvel are too smart to put him as T'challa as he's heimdall already, they would lack credibility. Hounsou is way too old to play this but that does not mean he can't play the father, Adewale Abadge should play tchalla older brother and nemesis (forgot the name). In every sites that I ve been that talk about who should play the role there are 3 names first is Michael Jai White whic I think is silly given his age and the fact that he cant act to save his life, second is Anthony Mackie who I think is awesome bit I'm not sure he has that king aura about him then there is my favorite and most people favorite Chewitel Ejiofor who I think would knock this out of the ball park and into the sky. He has that noble, wise, kingly aura about hi
And has shown it, has the intensity, can actually pull off the martial arts and best of all is highly intelligent. Those of you not convinced need to see him in serenity, red belt or salt!
I think an unknown African actor. Idris is already in Thor, so the overlap is enough with Evans being both Capt. America and Johnny Storm!!!!!!!!
It definitely should NOT be Wesley Snipes!!! He will forever be Blade.
I just hope it is someone who looks like they are from Sub-Saharan Africa.
Casting Halle Berry as Storm was a nice idea, but she looks FAR from African!!!!
Tongayi Chirisa hands down!
Terry Crews??
Donald Glover.
CHIWETEL EJIFOR
Djimon Honsou doesn't look that old to me. And he did provide the voice for the animated TV series.
At 49 Djimoun Honsou is probably too old, and Idris is already Heimdall….There's overwhelming consensus it should be Chiwitol Elijofer.
I'll continue the trend and go with Idris Elba.
Idris Elba!!!
I'm still holding out hopes of a Dr Stephen Strange movie but I would definitely go and see a Black Panther movie.
I noticed your point above about the need to adjust for inflation for older movies. If the figures are in (say) 2012 dollars then the Avengers is definitely not third of all time.

Too late for Clarence Gilyard Jr, unfortunately.
Good question.
How about a white guy? You know, to reverse the Nick Fury thing — haha
Iris Elba? Chiwetel Ejiofor?
