According to THR, Awkwafina is set to join the recently-announced Nic Cage and Nicholas Hoult in the “Dracula” reimagining titled “Renfield” for Universal. The film, directed by “Tomorrow War” helmer Chris McKay, is said to be a bit of a comedic take on the Dracula mythos, as it follows his henchman, Renfield (Hoult), as the modern-day story looks at toxic relationships and adding a bit of adventure for good measure. Awkwafina is said to play a character who will team up with Renfield to take on Dracula (Cage).
As mentioned, the actress is probably best known for her work in “The Farewell” and ‘Shang-Chi,’ however she has appeared in a number of TV projects and films over recent years. She’s appeared in massive films such as “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Jumanji: The Next Level,” and “Ocean’s 8.” She’s next set to appear in the upcoming drama, “Swan Song.”
