Got a Tip?

Rebel Wilson Says She Met With Paul Feig About The ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

It’s almost the year 2015, and the bold new vision of the future includes a female Ghostbuster. Or rather “Ghostbusters.” Yes, in case you forgot your misplaced outrage or the petition you signed, “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig is rebooting the franchise, meaning it will have nothing to do with the original trilogy and its characters, and it’s going to be an all-female cast.

No cast has been announced yet—though Bill Murray offered suggestions like Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini, and Emma Stone—but Feig’s already worked with a ton of talented women in “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat,” and the upcoming “Spy,” which reteams him with Rose Byrne and McCarthy.

So, will Feig tap into this pool of funny women for “Ghostbusters”? That’s the conventional wisdom, and in a Today Show interview for “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,Rebel Wilson, who co-starred “Bridesmaids,” revealed that she met with the director about the film. “Look, I’ve had a meeting, but who knows,” she said after. “They have to take a look at the script when it’s finished.”

So perhaps gauging the interest of actors before the screenplay is done? Probably not a bad idea considering sometimes you want to write with actors in mind. Asked facetiously by Matt Lauer if the “money truck” would convince her (something Rebel brought up in the interview earlier as a joke about a fourth ‘Museum’ movie), Wilson admitted that, “I’d even do it without the money truck because ‘Ghostbusters,’ the giant marshmallow man if that’s going to be in it…yeah, I’d do that for free.”

“I probably shouldn’t say that on TV,” she quipped.

There you go Sony, the pay scale sounds great. Thoughts? Who would be your first female choices to join the new “Ghostbusters” movie? That is unless your petition somehow magically changes the studio’s mind.

  1. Rebel Wilson was funny, for about fifteen minutes. Then the rest of Bridesmaids happened and completely eclipsed her. Now it seems like a handful of people are focused on stuffing her into as many places that they can so audiences don\’t forget about her. I don\’t mind the idea of females cast in a Ghostbusters film, but if Rebel Wilson is one of said females I ain\’t watchin\’.
