A couple of release date updates, so get out your day planner and find out why you might have to cancel on your Mom's birthday party…
First up, Focus Features has slotted the Rebecca Hall and Eric Bana-starring "Closed Circuit" for an August 28, 2013 release date. Coming right at the end of the summer, it might seem like an odd slot. However, Focus had found a receptive adult audience that weekend that has come out for "The American," "The Debt" and "The Constant Gardener" in recent years and they'll be tapping into that crowd this time out as well.
But nevertheless, we're keeping optimistic about this one. Penned by "Eastern Promises" scribe Steve Knight, Bana and Hall will play Martin and Claudia, lawyers and former lovers, who find their lives put at risk when they both join the defense team for the trial of an international terrorist. We're intrigued, so we're curious to see how it turns out.
Meanwhile, "Lego: The Piece Of Resistance" has moved up three weeks to a February 7, 2014 release date. Featuring the voices of Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt and Will Arnett, the story centers on a regular everyday little Lego figure who is mistaken as a MasterBuilder and suddenly becomes part of a group on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing everything together. The five-year-old inside us is super stoked. [Variety/Deadline]
