Got a Tip?

Razzies Short List Includes ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West,’ ‘The Interview,’ ‘Noah’ & ‘Sex Tape’

Sex TapeOscar ballots are out to Academy members, but evidently ballots are also out for those that vote in the ignominious Razzie awards, which celebrates the worst films of the year. Awards site the Golden Derby has gotten their hands on the ballot or shortlist which reveals what movies, actors, actresses and directors are in contention. Of course these picks are not nominations, those are further down the line, but they are an indication of what might make the final cut.

Sony’s reviled “Sex Tape” has six chances to make the nomination list, Kirk Cameron’s “Saving Christmas” scores five, and both Paramount’s Darren Aronofsky-directed “Noah” and the Nicolas Cage-starring “Left Behind” have four. Of course when the nominations are finally settled upon, the frontrunner could be Seth McFarlane‘s "A Million Ways To Die In The West," which is listed eight times. Sony’s “The Interview” doesn’t go unscathed either; both Seth Rogen and James Franco get individual mentions, but also as a on-screen duo. Adam Sandler is in contention for the Worst actor category, but strangely enough “Blended” isn’t up for Worst Picture. The Razzies are pretty damn silly and people hate giving them attention, but in the end are they any worse than any self-congratulating awards ceremony? Full short list below.

Voting ends on January 10. Nominations will be unveiled on January 14 — one day before Oscar bids are announced. For a deeper look at some terrible movies of the past year you can check out our own 20 Worst Films Of 2014 list.

  1. I don\’t get it… Where the hell is Lucy? That HAS GOT to be the worst movie EVER made. Luc Besson should be on that list twice (once for worst director and another for worst screenwriter) and Lucy should get at least four nominations just to be fair to the other movies that are not even remotely comparable to the level of mediocrity displayed in that awful piece of "cinema".

  2. Wow the razzies themselves deserve a razzie for being so moronic this year. Noah was one of the better films of the year, polarizing yes but it\’s so well done.

  3. When they start nominating directors like Aronofsky for \’worst director\’ you know these awards are now worse than that which they seek to mock. Yes, Noah had many flaws, but it was a daring film and has probably the single boldest (and best) scene this year in the \’Creation\’ sequence which is almost Tree of Life good.

  4. I dunno what the hell ur on about tbh, whoever compiled this list A) has no sense of humour, B) needs a proofreader & C) hasn\’t even given the worst of the worst movies so much of a mention, trancendence a bad movie?? Ur on crack, or too stupid to grasp the concepts in it.
Movies that SHOULD be on the list:
X-men days of future past (for negating every other x-men movie)
any of the hunger games that came out
    the "amazing" spiderman 2
    the maze runner
    let\’s be cops
    Divergent
Sin City 2 (should\’ve left it at the original)
    Penguins of madagascar
Paddington (yet another ruining of childhood favs)
The Boxtrolls (seriously, someone named a kids movie THAT??! LOL!!)
    Need for Speed
    Step up all in
& last & most importantly Sharknado 2. Has to be the WORST MOVIE EVER MADE, is a sequal & didn\’t even get a mention, c\’mon guys, you pretty much phoned this one in.

  5. Agree with Raj, Dave and Jong Un together was the best! These awards seem to lose steam when they add too many nominees that don\’t deserve to be there.

  6. *facepalm* … not sure why The Interview and A million ways to die in the west are on these lists… they were hilarious. Who comes up with these stupid nominations

  7. Darren Aronofksy should not be up for worst director. Noah wasn\’t great, but I don\’t think it should be up for worst picture either. Exodus should probably be in that category, and Ridley Scott should be up for Worst Director.

  8. Kristen Stewart is just lucky Camp X Ray went right to VOD or else she\’d be up for her third Razzie to go along with the 2 she already has for Worst Actress. I guess there is an upside to lack of distribution.

  9. This is just silly. The only way I understand their hate for NOAH is if they\’re a Christian organization, as it\’s not a strictly Biblically faithful telling of the story, as we all know by now. However judged purely as a film, I think they\’re completely alone in calling it one of the worst of the year. I think they\’ll also look like fools in years to come for hating The Interview, which really is a sharp, intelligent, carefully researched satire, under all the dick and fart jokes.

  10. Wait,, they\’re including The Interview and Noah? What the hell? I can buy James Franco since he was really bad at times in The Interview but whatever the faults that may be in the film, it\’s nowhere near deserving of a Razzie nomination. On top of that, Rogen and Randal Park are really funny in the movie as even the critics who don\’t like it will attest. Same for Noah, though Noah\’s on my top 10 for the year. It\’s a little goofy at times but that movie should be nowhere near the rest of the shit nominated

  11. yeah I find Noah\’s nomination absurd. Sure it wasn\’t amazing, and is by far Aronofosky\’s least well made film, but it is still well directed and is a solid if not great film.

  12. Noah shouldn\’t be there. It might not be a masterpiece, but at least Aronofsky did something interesting with the material. It\’s not a dull, pompous, bible-epic.

  13. No potential nominations for Bad Words or Non-Stop? And hey, Noah was good. People are just hating on it because it took creative license in the visual depiction of the story. The rock monsters are variations on what The Bible refers to as "giants". I also dug Pompeii, but I might be alone there.

  14. I don\’t get the hate for The Interview. In particular I refuse to accept that James Franco and Randall Park could be described as anything less than magical as a screen combo.
