Film studios are running away from the COVID spring to the hills of “safety” in the summer and fall; any major movies set for release in the next four months are being delayed and rescheduled. But Disney is staying put with their animated film “Raya and the Last Dragon,” which instead is going the way of “Mulan,” skipping theaters (at least in North America) and going the Disney Premier Access route (another $29.99 on top of Disney+ which angered some users last summer when “Mulan” finally came out). As pundits question whether Disney will do the same with their next major release or postpone the date (“Black Widow“), the company has released a new trailer for ‘Raya.’
The film is set in a realm known as Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization, a warrior named Raya is determined to find the last dragon.
