Spooky season is here, which means plenty of hair-raising new content from media outlets far and wide. AMC+ is taking the opportunity to tease its latest limited series, a queasy-looking serial killer thriller from the executive producers of “Killing Eve.”

From the trailer’s first gruesome images, “Ragdoll” announces itself as a dark procedural firmly rooted in the “Se7en” tradition. A corpse is suspended from the ceiling like an eerie art installation as a couple of investigators dryly examine the macabre crime scene by flashlight. Soon, the figure is revealed to be composed of not one, but several victims stitched together.

“Six people have been murdered, dismembered and sewn into the shape of one grotesque body suspended from the ceiling in a block of London flats – nicknamed the ‘Ragdoll.’ Assigned to the shocking case are newly reinstated DS Nathan Rose; his best friend and boss, DI Emily Baxter; and the unit’s new recruit, DC Lake Edmunds. The ‘Ragdoll Killer’ taunts the police by sending them a list of his next victims, with Rose’s name among them. And with those victims to protect, our heroes soon come under intense public scrutiny. A gruesomely imaginative serial killer thriller, Ragdoll captures the fascinating but flawed friends struggling with the consequences of institutionalization and trauma.”
“Ragdoll” stars Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Nathan Rose, Lucy Hale as Lake Edmunds, and Thalissa Teixeira as Emily Baxter. Ali Cook also appears as chief inspector Terrance Simmons.
The six-part series was written by Freddy Syborn (“Bounty Hunters,” “Bad Education”) and adapted from the debut novel by British author Daniel Cole. Executive producers at Sid Gentle Films, Ltd. developed “Killing Eve” similarly, starting with a series of genre novellas by Luke Jennings and bringing in witty voices like Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell to add a comedic dimension. If the formula works again and “Ragdoll” connects with audiences, AMC+ will be prepared to follow it up: Cole has already published two sequels.
“Ragdoll” is set to premiere exclusively on AMC+ on November 11, with new episodes every Thursday.
