Got a Tip?

7 Questions We Hope Will Be Answered In ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

One of our favorite Netflix series, “Stranger Things,” returns on October 27th and we have our baseball bat, Christmas lights, and bicycles ready to ride back into The Upside Down. Here are some questions we hope will be answered and strange things we hope to see this upcoming season.

1) Will “Dragon’s Lair” Set The Tone?
In the trailer for the new season, we see Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Mike playing a video game called “Dragon’s Lair.” A staple arcade game of the ’80s, we’re thinking, much like “Dungeons and Dragons,” this game will set the course of what is to come in season two. We don’t think it’s a mistake that the game is the first thing we see in the trailer, and we already know that episode four of season two is called “The Palace.” We might be thinking too much into this, but with all the references to the ’80s made in season one, we’re not going to rule it out completely.

2) Will There Be Justice For Barb?
Some of us are still trying to wrap our heads around how Barb gained such a following after being in just three episodes of the first season. Shannon Purser‘s Emmy-nominated performance not only left fans wanting more, but also gained a huge following and a plea for justice following her unfortunate trip in The Upside Down. According to Comic-Con interviews with the cast, we can confirm there will be justice for Barb. We’re still unsure what form this justice will take, but we hope for fans’ sake it will leave them satisfied.

3) What is Hawkins Lab Up To?
From a few seconds in the trailer, we know season two will bring us back to Hawkins lab. The gate was never closed at the conclusion of season one, and we know it’s still there. Hawkins Lab is a secretive place and we’re still unsure exactly what’s going on there. Is Dr. Brenner experimenting on kids? Spying on the Russians? Monopolizing a slew of otherworldly creatures to be used as weapons? Your guess is as good as ours. We hope more will be revealed this coming season.

4) Nancy and Steve? Or Nancy and Jonathan?
Of the problems facing Hawkins, a teen love triangle is the least of our worries. The relationships between Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan, are definitely a point where viewers may take sides. Steve did let Tommy write that Nancy was a slut on the movie theater’s marque. But he also ended up subverting the ’80s stereotype by putting aside his feelings and later coming to the rescue of Nancy and Jonathan. Introverted and socially awkward, the elder Byers brother did show a strong romantic connection to Nancy, and it’s not as though they haven’t been through quite a lot. Of the plot lines in “Stranger Things,” this may not be the most important. Nevertheless, we’ll look forward to seeing these characters grow. The relationship we’re most looking forward to, however, is the one that will blossom betwen Sean Astin‘s Bob Newby and Winona Ryder‘s Joyce Byers.

5) What Does Hopper Know?
The end of season one saw David Harbour‘s Chief Hopper step into a car attended by, what looked like, Hawkins lab officials. We also saw Hopper leaving Eggo waffles in a box in the woods. This alone points to the very real possibility that Hopper may know more about the agenda of Hawkins lab. We also think there is a chance he may know where Eleven is and how she could possibly return to Hawkins. It’s something we definitely would look to see explored in season two.

6) What Is Else Could Lurk In The Upside Down?
Much of the mystery of season one was dealt specifically with the creature that found it’s way into Hawkins. The Demagorgon is likely destroyed, but what else is there in The Upside Down? The season one finale episode introduced us to what may be next — The Theslhydra — which according to Greek mythology is a creature with multiple heads. When one is cut off, another replaces it. We’re not saying this may be the spider-like creature previewed in trailers, but we can expect to be introduced to this new threat in season two.

7) What Happened to Baby Jane?
Possibly confirmed in episode six of season one, there is the question of whether Eleven is in fact baby Jane who was taken from Terry Ives. Said to have miscarried in her third trimester, Terry is unable to explain what really happened, and is still dealing with the abduction of her daughter. The scene, specifically, is intertwined with cuts of Eleven using her telekinetic powers on guards in Hawkins Lab. Answering this question would mean we learn more about Eleven’s backstory and possibly finding out her true identity.
