Quite obviously, Quentin Tarantino loves his own universe and his own characters. He’s talked about spin-off movies or sequels to most of his films and none have ever happened so far (“Vega Brothers,” etc.).
In February of this year, long before “Inglourious Basterds” came out, he discussed once again his desire to some day tackle a “Kill Bill 3 & 4.“
In a recent interview with some Italian television show he assured the host, “The Bride will fight again!” But yes, he’s prone to do this every couple years (she does in fact ask about sequels to his other films which he responds with flat out nos, but it’s hard to tell which ones she’s talking about).
Asked when he might tackle any next ‘Kill Bill’ film or films (though he doesn’t talk about ‘4’ in this one at all) he said, “Well, I gotta wait a couple years because I wanted 10 years to pass.”
This has led brainiacs on the web who can calculate simple math in their heads to say 10 years from the last “Kill Bill” film would make 2014 the release date of “Kill Bill 3,” but don’t read into it too much, we’ll believe it when we see it, etc. Why a 10 year break? “Two reasons,” Quentin said. “One: I think Uma [Thurman] and I needed a 10 year break cause the first one was so hard. And second: I really love the character. And I think she deserves a 10 year release of no fighting and being with her [daughter]….”
It’s around the 5:55 mark. Don’t lose sleep over it.

If I remember correctly he wanted the 10 year wait because he used to want to have Vivica A. Fox's daughter come after the Bride. She must be around 6 in the first one, so she'd be a 16 year old wanting to take revenge ("If you still feel sore about it…"). But who knows…
