The new James Bond “Quantum of Solace” trailer is out and it appears that director Marc Forster and the producers are still attempting to measure up to the bar set by the “Bourne” series – the first major series that dared to portray the life of an international spy and assassin as less a globe trotting party filled with highly desirable women and more of an emotionally taxing, extremely isolated profession.
The Bond series returns after “Casino Royale”, which marked a break from the parade of shit that had come before (“Die Another Day” “The World is Not Enough”) and now that they have Forster behind the camera (‘Royale’ was directed by Martin Campbell), the man whose short but extremely promising resume consist of “The Kite Runner” and “Stranger Than Fiction,” it looks as though we could be in for a Bond piece that has a much more austere look to it.
It’s Marc Forster, not Foster. And he directed a few other films including “Monster’s Ball” and “Finding Neverland”.
