Got a Tip?

‘The Purge’ TV Show Will Be About Everything But The Purge

Since last fall, a TV series based on the hit horror film franchise “The Purge” has been in the works, and many have been wondering how a show will elaborate on a central premise that has people doing awful things to each other for 12 hours each year, consequence free. Well, the answer is that “The Purge” won’t really be about the The Purge at all.

NBCUniversal has their upfront television presentation today, where they unveil the slate of projects they have coming to the small screen, and the central premise of “The Purge” series has been revealed.

“It will reveal to the fans what happens the other 364 days of the year and how that law affects people,” franchise creator and director James DeMonaco said. So, I guess the whole series will be people waiting for The Purge, talking about The Purge, and thinking about The Purge. Sounds….thrilling? Granted, they have to expand the world of the movies if it’s going to sustain multiple television episodes, but I can’t think of a worst pitch for “The Purge.”

However, development continues and there’s plenty of time between now and the series launch on USA and Syfy in 2018 to tweak things a bit. [Deadline]
