Weep for your childhood all of you want, but Disney‘s live action reboots and reimaginings of their classic characters have been box office gold. “The Jungle Book,” “Cinderella,” and “Beauty And The Beast” have all been massive hits, and it’s not a big surprise there are plenty more on the way. Among the movies that are in active production or development, the list includes “Dumbo,” “Aladdin,” “Christopher Robin,” “The Lion King,” “Cruella,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mulan,” “Tink,” and, “Prince Charming.”

Disney has tapped Stephen Chbosky (“The Perks Of Being A Wallflower,” “Wonder“) to write “Prince Charming,” with an option to direct as well. So, what can there possibly be said about Cinderella’s bland romantic interest? Well, according to Deadline, the proposed movie will be “told from the point of view of Charming’s brother who never quite lived up to the family’s standards.” So, Prince Less Charming, I guess. Still, it’s a clever way in to figuring out what this movie will be. Chbosky will be taking over from Matt Fogel (uh, “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son“) who wrote the first draft.
Who knows if and when this movie will come to light. Disney doesn’t mind spending money and taking time on their development process until they get it right. In fact, this movie was first announced two years ago. So file this knowledge away and save any strong feelings until more news arrives.
