Got a Tip?

‘Primal’ Trailer: Nic Cage Fights An Assassin & A Wild Jaguar On A Boat. ‘Nuff Said.

With the frequency in which he releases new films, it’s just downright impossible to be on top of every project that Nicolas Cage is involved in. Frankly, we can really only keep track of the major films, like “Mandy” and the upcoming “Color Out of Space.” However, what that means is that sometimes a new Cage film sneaks up on us and sinks its teeth in when we least expect it, such as “Primal.”

As seen in the new trailer for the film, “Primal” finds Cage portraying a big game hunter and collector of exotic animals, such as the rare white jaguar that he’s excitedly bringing back to the US to be sold. However, while he’s on the boat, basking in the glory of nabbing the big cat, the government decides that this boat is the perfect vessel to utilize to bring a major assassin back to US soil. As you might expect, shit quickly hits the fan as Cage finds himself with a gun, on the hunt for the assassin, as well as the various exotic animals that now roam the floating vessel.

Joining Cage in the cast are Famke Janssen, Kevin Durand, LaMonica Garrett, Michael Imperioli, and a big, CGI jaguar. And really, let’s be honest, the rest of the cast are effectively set dressing, as anyone with eyes is going to only care about the inevitable showdown between Cage and his feline enemy.

“Primal” arrives in select theaters and On Demand on November 8.

Here’s the synopsis:

When Frank Walsh (Nicolas Cage), a hunter and collector of rare and exotic animals, bags a priceless white jaguar for a zoo, he figures it’ll be smooth sailing to a big payday. But the ship bearing Frank’s precious cargo has two predators caged in its hold: the cat, and a political assassin being extradited to the U.S. After the assassin breaks free – and then frees the jaguar – Frank feverishly stalks the ship’s cramped corridors in hot pursuit of his prey, right up until the thrilling, unpredictable climax.
