It wasn’t just American film critics handing out awards this weekend. Across the pond, the British Independent Film Awards celebrated the best and brightest of the country’s indie scene, and one film that definitely made a minor wave stateside earlier this fall got a little boost: "Pride."
The true story charmer that chronicles the unlikely alliance between miners and gay rights activists won Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor. Not quite a sweep but certainly a healthy showing for a film that, at least on this side of the ocean, many have already forgotten about (and we’d wager CBS Films are kicking themselves for having already released this in September).
Elsewhere, the love was spread around with "Frank" scoring two wins for Best Screenplay and Best Technical Achievement for its use of music. And because it seems Richard Linklater‘s "Boyhood" will take an award at every opportunity, the movie won Best International Independent Film. Obviously.
