Got a Tip?

Posters: New One Sheets For ‘Jack and Diane,’ ‘Rock of Ages,’ ‘The Fourth Dimension’ & More

nullWith summer nearly upon us, studios are heavily pushing their upcoming genre fare with gaudy orange/blue-gradient posters, but among the slew of studio material trying their hardest to stand out, the names Kilmer and Korine together seem the most exciting.

First off, Bradley Rust Gray's film “Jack and Diane” has firmly grabbed the “lesbian werewolf romance” tag in its run up to release, but the poster is playing down its lycan elements for love, by splashing the film's two leads Juno Temple and Riley Keough across the front instead. With Mum and Kylie Minogue (!) providing new music (with the latter in a supporting role as well), it all should make for an interesting ride. The film premiered last week at the Tribeca Film Fest, and you can read our review here.

Following a misjudged trailer veering wildly between action, drama, and (hopefully) intentional comedy, Timur Bekmambetov's genre hodgepodge “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” finds a new poster to try and lure you in. A strange whiff of “Jonah Hex” seems bound to the project, but let's hope the commited performance of Benjamin Walker as Lincoln, along with Bekmambetov's sense of humor is enough to pull the film through. The film opens June 22nd. [Empire]

Speaking of committed, Tom Cruise once again steps out of his comfort zone (and possibly ours) in the fresh poster to “Rock of Ages.” The Adam Shankman-helmed film obviously knows its core audience, with “From the director of Hairspray" strung across the top, but with a supporting cast including Catherine Zeta Jones, Alec Baldwin, and Russell Brand all harnessing their inner glam, there remains potential for a solid film to result. See for yourself June 15th.

The buzz on “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” has been relatively calm in the swarm of the other major tentpoles this summer, but those behind it are trying for the eye-candy factor to make you aware. With a new poster of Adrianne Palicki's Lady Jaye character strutting around with weaponry, it would seem the tanned visages of Palick and co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum are all they have left, which is unfortunate. The film hits June 29th. [MovieWeb]

Finally, Val Kilmer plays… Val Kilmer, in Harmony Korine's segment for the omnibus film “The Fourth Dimension,” and each new look at the film just makes it more interesting. Joining Russian and Polish directors Alexey Fedorchenko and Jan Kwiecinski for three manifesto-led parts to one hopefully delightfully wonky whole, the film will see its premiere at Tribeca, and hopefully a theatrical release soon after.
