As certain corners of the internet call for the removal of Colin Trevorrow from “Star Wars: Episode IX” following the disastrous reviews for “The Book Of Henry,” Disney has about $1.6 billion reasons why they might want to keep him around. That was the worldwide haul for 2015’s “Jurassic World,” which of course has spurred a highly anticipated sequel, that’s in the hands of J.A. Bayona, but yes, with a script co-written by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Now, we know what the movie will be called.
The first poster has landed for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” which — isn’t exactly the most inspired name. It’s the kinda bland, epic moniker we’ve heard before from movies like “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen,” not to mention Gerard Butler‘s “[Insert] Has Fallen” flicks. Frankly, the one thing getting me to buy a ticket beyond liking its predecessor is that knowledge that Jeff Goldblum is back as Ian Malcolm. He should really be on the poster instead of all that flying debris.
“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” opens on June 22, 2018.
Don’t expect Goldblum having a major role in the movie. After all, it was last year when his big return “Independence Day: Resurgence” tanked at the B.O. It’s because Universal wants to bring people like you to see this movie Goldblum has been attached to play in the sequel to ‘JW’.
