Swiss authorities rejected Roman Polanski’s bid for bail a second time on Friday, even though the offer was a higher amount. “We still consider the flight risk as high,” Justice Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said, also noting that Polanski’s bail offer was not in cash. The director now has 10 days to appeal the decision and he’s already offered up to live under house arrest, hand over his passport, and wear an electronic ankle bracelet.
While the victim in the original 1977 unlawful sex case, Samantha Geimer, recently urged the L.A. District’s office to drop the case against Polanski, several legal experts have said her plea will likely do nothing to help Polanski’s case.
Update: Polanski’s latest bail offer has been received. The filings evidently included “adequate guarantees” that he would not flee, on top of cold hard cash.
Next thing you know he'll be offering them roles in his next movies: The Pianist 2, Oliver Twist: The Later Years, and of course Rosemary's Teenager.
I know nobody wants to be in jail, but man this guy is basically giving everything to get out of it. He's either having one hell of a bad time in there or thinks he can escape.
