Got a Tip?

Phoebe Waller-Bridge To Begin Work On A New Amazon Series Later This Year

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is finally coming back to Amazon. A few years after the end of “Fleabag” and after departing the proposed “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” adaptation, Waller-Bridge has received the green light to work on her latest series for the streaming platform.

According to Variety, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is expected to begin production on a new TV series by the end of 2022. The exact details about the series are unknown at this time. We don’t even know if it’ll be a comedy or a drama. However, we do know that the actress-writer-director-producer is finally returning to the home of her award-winning “Fleabag” and we have to assume it’s going to be something exciting, regardless.

As mentioned, Amazon is the home of “Fleabag,” which won numerous awards for the streamer and Waller-Bridge. Since then, she’s worked on a number of shows, such as “Killing Eve,” “Run,” and more. She also helped pen the script for the new Bond film, “No Time to Die.” She was previously attached to star opposite Donald Glover in a TV adaptation of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” but she left that project back in September 2021.

Needless to say, with the pedigree she has already earned, we’re excited to learn that Waller-Bridge is working on anything at this point. The fact that it’s for the same company that gave us “Fleabag” is just a bonus, considering we have to assume Amazon is willing to give Waller-Bridge full creative control to turn in something special.

If production on this new series does begin in 2022, then hopefully that means we’ll see the series appear next year.
