Yes, there are other things happening in the film world besides Marvel‘s continued expansion of their comic book movie empire. Over at Warner Bros., in addition to their massive DC Comics universe, they also have "The Lego Movie" to thank for kicking off a new franchise, and they’re keeping key talent in place to get it right.
While they are not yet confirmed to return to direct, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will write "The Lego Movie 2." It’s likely a big sigh of relief for Warner Bros. that the followup to their acclaimed animated smash hit will be in the right hands. But Lord and Miller are busy, and the studio isn’t going to rush anything, with "The Lego Movie 2" not expected until at least 2018. Coming first? Spinoff "Lego Batman" in 2017.
Meanwhile, shifting gears completely, James Franco has tapped “The Fault In Our Stars” screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber to write his Tommy Wiseau movie "The Disaster Artist." It’s based on the book by "The Room" star Greg Sestero, who documented the making of the cult classic/worst movie ever made. Dave Franco will play Sestero. [Deadline/The Wrap]
