Got a Tip?

Peter Morgan And Michael To Reenact The Life Of Tony Blair Until The End Of Time

Director/writer Peter Morgan and actor Michael Sheen apparently really, really, really love former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. No, we mean like raging hard-on for the man. The twosome have already depicted the life of Blair in “The Deal” and “The Queen” (not to mention Sheen played Blair in Oliver Stone’s “W” this year; oh wait that was Ioan Gruffudd, sorry, they’re all the same) and now they’re go for a third go-round.

According to Variety, Sheen and Morgan (who wrote “Frost/Nixon” this year with Sheen in the lead again), they are wrapping up their Blair trilogy with a film called, “The Special Relationship,” and the film will be about… Blair’s working relationship between Blair and Bill Clinton between 1997 and 2000.

Gee, that sounds like fireworks. Apparently Morgan wanted to do the Blair/George. W. Bush relationship, which is infinitely more interesting, but then he probably realized it was quickly trivialized by Oliver Stone and he had to find another U.S. political figure for him to politely agree with. This one is going to be riveting.

  1. Hi — great blog. I saw Morgan speak about the movie back in October; yes the Bush/Blair story is more conventionally dramatic, but it’s been told too many times already. This is about the seduction of Blair — how he fell in love with America, and how he saw Britain’s relationship with the US. If you’re a fan of Morgan’s work, check out my blog, where I’ve taken a look at what makes his writing work so well. Best wishes JW
