Got a Tip?

Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Kirsten Wiig & Christopher Walken Will Get Frozen In Errol Morris’ ‘Freezing People Is Easy’

nullErrol Morris? Cryogenics? Sound familiar? Over the summer, the documentarian Morris let it drop that Paul Rudd would lead his adaptation of the memoir “We Froze The First Man.” Well, it looks like it's now beginning to take shape with a new title and one helluva cast coming together.

Now known as "Freezing People Is Easy" (ha!), Deadline reports that Owen Wilson, Kirsten Wiig (who needs "Bridesmaids 2"?) and Christopher Walken are all looking at snagging roles in the film. The cryogenic comedy, that will also draw on “You’re As Cold As Ice” a story featured on the NPR program “This American Life," will follow the book's author Bob Nelson in the 1960s as he joins a group of fellow enthusiasts who believe they can cheat death through cryonics. Unfortunately, Bob makes a few mistakes along the way and has to admit to family members of those he had tried to freeze that he messed up. Zach Helm, the man behind high concept comedies "Stranger Than Fiction" and "Mr. Magorium's Emporium," has penned the script.

The site says that the cast is pretty much locked in, all except Wiig who is considering the movie alongside a handful of other films. But should everything come into place, shooting will begin in the middle of the year. The project will mark Morris' first narrative film since 1991's drama "The Dark Wind," an experience he likely wants to forget after clashing with executive producer Robert Redford on the movie. All in all this sounds pretty fantastic, and if Morris' excellent doc "Tabloid" proved anything, he can do zany quite well.
