Things are already looking up for both; Bettany impresses in new cop thriller "Blood," and Goode looks to have a juicy role in Park Chan-Wook's "Stoker" early next year. And now the pair are teaming up for the Falklands War-era thriller "Destroyer." “Last Days” and “The Dreamers” star Michael Pitt will star in true-crime thriller “Rob The Mob.” The Raymond De Felitta-helmed film, written by Jonathan Fernandez, follows a couple (Pitt with Tony-winner Nina Arianda) “who target and rob some of New York’s biggest mobsters.” [Deadline]
The 1984 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster was not only an American tragedy, but one that transfixed the entire world. Now the BBC, in conjunction with the Science Channel, will produce a movie “about the search for what caused the 1985 Challenger Space Shuttle explosion” and they’ve rounded up a pair of American actors to lead the procedural film: William Hurt and Bruce Greenwood. No strangers to historical dramas, the two actors will portray Manhattan Project physicist Richard Feynman and Air Force general Donald Kutyna, two men “instrumental in uncovering the truth” behind the tragedy. The rest of cast is filled by Brian Dennehy, Joanne Whalley, Kevin McNally (“Downton Abbey”), Henry Goodman (“The Damned United”) and Eve Best (“Nurse Jackie”). [Deadline]
And finally, TV stars Vincent Piazza ("Boardwalk Empire") and Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos") are joining Patricia Arquette ("True Romance") in NYC mobland tale "The Wannabe," for debut writer-director Nick Sandow. Piazza will play a gangster-wannabe who hooks up with an older neighbor (Arquette) to stake their claim in the organized crime world. Imperioli will play Piazza's respectable family-man brother. I agree with Mr. Anonymous. Saying Watchmen was "terrible" and putting in league with Priest is undeserving of its merits, of which there are a lot. That flick was awesome!
Oh come on Cain, no way was Watchmen a terrible comic book movie. It had its faults but it certainly wasn't terrible!
