It's AFM time, which means lots of projects are being announced, but whether or not they actually get made anytime soon continues to be up in the air. In fact, there is such a glut of films being tossed around the sales floor, only the barest scraps of info about some of them are making it out.
For example, it has been revealed that Patrick Wilson will star in the action movie "Stretch" for Joe Carnahan. What it is about? Who wrote it? When might it shoot? Your guess is as good as ours, but Blumhouse Productions ("Sinister," "Paranormal Activity") are producing, so it probably means this one will be on a lower budget.
Meanwhile, The Weinstein Company have landed the sales rights to an intriguing-sounding untitled movie from "Eastern Promises" scribe Steven Knight. The project will center on a wild chef who assembles a hotshot team to try and land his third Michelin star. Besides reality shows, we often don't see films set exclusively in the kitchen, so it's a promising and unique backdrop. But as always, that too sounds like it's in very early stages.
Lots more to come as AFM rolls until November 7th. [ScreenDaily]
Kevin, scriptshadow gave the Chef Flick script a great review and over at the vulture website, it is mentioned that Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to star in Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance's " Chef."
