Got a Tip?

Paramount Sets ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Reboot For Spring 2016 Release

null

For years, they’ve been trying to make a “Beverly Hills Cop” reboot and/or sequel happen without much developing, but at the end of 2013 there was a ray of light. Eddie Murphy officially came back, Brett Ratner got attached to direct the project (again), and it was all systems go at Paramount. And now they’re feeling bold enough to set a release date.

The studio has slated the new “Beverly Hills Cop” for March 25, 2016. Huzzah! And those are all the details at the moment. Previously, reports have said the film will find Axel Foley “returning to his Detroit roots,” and while Ratner at one point in the past really wanted to go hard-R. “It’s a reinvention,” he said back in 2009 which the project was sorta kicking around. “I’m going to reintroduce it to a contemporary audience. I’m going to take the best of the first two films and put it into the new one.” Probably wise to avoid talking about “Beverly Hills Cop III.”

And that’s fine and everything, but if we don’t see Judge Reinhold in this, then this reboot is dead to us. Just kidding, but seriously, give that dude a call, Ratner. [The Wrap]
