“Star Trek” may be a franchise that is based in space and, well, the stars, but it’s never shied away from some tried-and-true sci-fi tropes. The new ‘Picard’ trailer is part of yesterday’s “Star Trek” Day celebration, where Paramount+ continued to flex its ‘Trek’ muscles by giving fans a sneak peek at a bunch of new projects. Sure, “Star Trek” might be in a bit of flux on the big screen, but the franchise is firing on all cylinders over on the streaming platform. And while ‘Discovery’ still might be the flagship series, ‘Picard’ is yet another breakout hit for Paramount+ and the “Star Trek” franchise.
As mentioned, Season 2 of ‘Picard’ shows how one person can go back in time and turn the present day into a totalitarian nightmare. And even though Jean-Luc Picard angrily says that he’s “too old for this bullshit,” the famed Starfleet captain has to fix the timeline and bring order to the universe.
In addition to the trailer for “Picard” Season 2, Paramount+ also unveiled a mid-season trailer for Season 2 of ‘Lower Decks,’ which is the animated series that pokes a bit of fun at the ‘Trek’ mythos. There was also a behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the cast of the latest live-action ‘Trek’ series, “Strange New Worlds.” And let’s not forget the new trailer for ‘Prodigy,’ the kid-focused, animated ‘Trek’ adventure series.
