Got a Tip?

Paramount Announces 2 New 2022 ‘South Park’ Films & A Movie A Year Until 2025, A New ‘Beavis & Butthead’ Film & More

Paramount+ may have already had its moment in the sun during the still-ongoing Winter Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour, but today, during their ViacomCBS Investors Event, the company and streamer revealed even more. First off, ViacomCBS? It’s going back to being called just Paramount. Details were also revealed about “South Park,” more “Beavis And Butthead,” and a “Teen Wolf” movie. Much of this will sound familiar, not all of it is entirely new revelations, but the details have been revealed.

First off, starting this March, Paramount+ international will roll out more than 300 episodes of “South Park,” the TV series as the new exclusive international SVOD home, but there’s so much more. Globally, Paramount+ chiefs announced the service will premiere two additional “South Park” movies in 2022 and every year through 2027 – as well as season 27 of the TV series in 2024 – all building up to 2025, when Paramount+ will be the exclusive global SVOD home to the full “South Park” series.

Those two new movies? “South Park: Post Covid” and “South Park: Post Covid: The Return Of Covid,” Paramount+ also revealed the title of its new “Beavis and Butt-Head” film: “Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe.” A new season of the hit animated series, as well as the full library of over 200 remastered episodes, will also stream exclusively on the service.

“’South Park’ and ‘Beavis & Butthead’ are two of the most successful and widely known adult animation IP in the history of the genre, and I am thrilled that Paramount+ will be their exclusive new SVOD home,” said Chris McCarthy, chief content officer, unscripted entertainment and adult animation for Paramount+, during the ViacomCBS Investors Event. “By expanding the universe of these franchises, we are unlocking significant value within ViacomCBS’ treasure chest of IP, and this is just the beginning.”

Here’s a run-down of the South Park future until 2027:

“South Park” 2021-2027

  • 2022: Complete library of 310 episodes to launch on Paramount+ internationally.
  • 2024: Beginning with season 27, new episodes will have their U.S. and global streaming premieres on Paramount+.
  • 2025: Entire catalog rolls into the U.S., making Paramount+ the global exclusive SVOD home to the groundbreaking franchise.
  • MTV Entertainment Studios’ new and expansive deal with co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker includes extending “South Park” on Comedy Central through 2027 and taking cable’s longest-running scripted series through an unprecedented 30th season. In addition to the series extension, the new deal includes 14 “South Park” original made-for-streaming events exclusively for Paramount+, including last year’s SOUTH PARK: POST COVID and SOUTH PARK: POST COVID: THE RETURN OF COVID.

The series has earned five Emmy Awards, to date, and a George Foster Peabody Award.

Here are Beavis and Butthead details

“Beavis Butt-Head” 2022

New movie:

  • BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD DO THE UNIVERSE: In perhaps the dumbest space movie ever made, Beavis and Butt-Head are sentenced to Space Camp by a “creative” judge in 1998. Their obsession with a docking simulator (huh huh) leads to a trip on the Space Shuttle, with predictably disastrous results. After going through a black hole, they reemerge in our time, where they look for love, misuse iPhones, and are hunted by the Deep State. Spoiler: They don’t score.

New series:

  • Beavis and Butt-head are back and stupider than ever.
  • Full library of 200+ classic remastered episodes

Lastly? Yes, the “Teen Wolf” property that aired on MTV is coming back as a movie. “Teen Wolf The Movie” will star much of the cast, you know, plus newcomers. Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, and Crystal Reed, are set to reprise their toles alongside Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio, and Dylan Sprayberry.

Here’s the synopsis:

In TEEN WOLF THE MOVIE, a full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it, a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.
