Got a Tip?

‘Ozark’ Season 2 Teaser: Jason Bateman Ditches The Funny And Brings The Drama Yet Again

As film and TV viewers, we’ve been conditioned to believe numerous things. Don’t go into the dark room when you hear a noise. The character that says to not trust anyone is the person who’s going to betray you. And Jason Bateman will always be the snarky, sarcastic a-hole. Well, that last one isn’t always true, though you wouldn’t be blamed if you believed it.

In the Netflix original series, “Ozark,” Bateman plays against character, where the sarcasm and jokes are replaced with dramatic stares and serious dialogue. While you may think this isn’t the way of the world and goes against God’s Plan, you’d be surprised to know that the actor actually pulls it off and the series is pretty darn enjoyable.

The series turned out to be a hit for Netflix, and as the streaming service is wont to do, they’ve spent money on a second season of Jason Bateman being serious. In a new teaser for season 2 of “Ozark,” you see all the hallmarks that made the first season enjoyable. It’s dark, mysterious, and…well, dark. No, literally, most of the trailer takes place at night or is completely desaturated. But if you’re a fan of the first season, then you know what you’re getting yourself into.

“Ozark” season 2 will launch on Netflix on August 31.

Here’s the official synopsis for season 2:

In its much-anticipated second season, Ozark continues to follow Marty Bryde and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out.
