Got a Tip?

‘Oslo’ Trailer: Ruth Wilson & Andrew Scott Star In An HBO Political Thriller About The ’93 Oslo Peace Accords

In the face of conflict, they sought peace. What’s the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords? In 1993, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Negotiator Mahmoud Abbas signed a Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements, commonly referred to as the “Oslo Accord,” at the White House. The accords eventually collapsed in 1996 after Rabin’s assassination by an Israeli who opposed the Oslo Accords on religious grounds, but “Oslo,” a new HBO political thriller, is about the road to those accords.

Adapted from the Tony Award-winning play of the same name, the film is based on a true story of negotiations between implacable enemies — the secret back-channels talks, unlikely friendships, and quiet heroics of a small but committed group of Israelis, Palestinians, and one Norwegian couple that led to the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords.  DreamWorks Pictures, Marc Platt Productions (“La La Land“), and Bold Films produce. Now, when you have a story about Israeli and Palestinian conflicts, it seems a little strange to center the movie on a Norwegian couple. Is this a white savior story all over again? You’ll have to judge for yourself, but it sure seems that way on the outside and by the looks of this new trailer.
