Got a Tip?

Oscar Nominated ‘Moonlight’ Director Barry Jenkins Just Can’t Stop Taking Movies From The Criterion Collection

I’m not sure how anyone shows restraint when The Criterion Collection lets them into their closet and allows them to take what they want, but Oscar nominated “Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins certainly tries.

The filmmaker is the latest to be allowed to take what he can carry out of the offices of the boutique label, and as always, it’s fascinating to see his choices. Jenkins reveals that the first Criterion movie he ever bought was Lynne Ramsay‘s “Ratcatcher,” and he reveals how David Gordon Green‘s “George Washington” inspired a scene in his own “Medicine For Melancholy.” But just as Jenkins says “I’m done,” he can’t resist grabbing a few more movies, just as we all would.

“Moonlight” is now playing.
