Aging sucks. When you’re young, you feel invincible and that you have an infinite amount of time on this planet. But as you get older, your own mortality creeps into your head and you start to think of things in terms of how little time you have left. And it’s that sort of anxiety that is exacerbated in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan thriller, “Old.”

In the trailer for “Old,” we’re introduced to a lovely family that is just on vacation and looking for a nice beach. But when the married couple and their two kids arrive on this seemingly secluded, private beach, they begin to notice weird things occurring. Namely, they freak out when they realize their lovely kids have doubled in age, becoming young adults in a matter of minutes. Then, the parents begin to show wrinkles and gray hair, as the family realizes this beach is more of a prison that accelerates time for some unknown, but terrifying reason.

As mentioned, “Old” is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the man behind a number of big, twisty thrillers, such as “The Sixth Sense,” “Signs,” and most recently, “Glass.” He’s known for presenting a great premise, a solid cast, and then ending the film with a twist that will either leave film fans excited and pleased or incredibly disappointed. Basically, you leave a Shyamalan film feeling either completely satisfied or thoroughly confused and/or unhappy. But when they work, his films work like gangbusters.

Joining the really great cast of “Old” are actors such as Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Kathleen Chalfant, Alexa Swinton, Nolan River, Kylie Begley, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Alex Wolff, Emun Elliott, and Thomasin McKenzie.
