‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series: Hayden Christensen Will Reprise His Role As Darth Vader

Fans of George Lucas’ “Star Wars” prequels are going to be happy. Hayden Christensen returns as Darth Vader, joining Ewan McGregor in the upcoming limited series “OBI-WAN KENOBI.” Directed by Deborah Chow, the series will begin shooting in March 2021.

This makes sense in some regards. Obi-Wan’s second greatest adversary was Darth Maul, but that story concluded on the animated series “Star Wars Rebels.” But will Darth and Obi-Wan Kenobi cross paths? Wouldn’t that contradict the events of “Star Wars: A New Hope,” because Vader senses a presence he hasn’t in decades and isn’t even sure Obi-Wan is alive?

Perhaps Vader will lead the quest for Obi-Wan (McGregor), and maybe he’ll use the Inquisitors, who are characters created in the animated series for that very purpose: hunting down remaining Jedis and then killing them.

Ewan McGregor returns in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+. Officially titled “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season one., and features the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
