Who knew that six seconds could cause such controversy?
In the case of a new ad for the upcoming horror film “The Nun,” six seconds is not only enough to scare the shit out of people on YouTube but is also enough to get banned from that very website. According to a YouTube tweet, an ad used on its website, which featured a “jump scare” where the titular nun appears out of nowhere, is now banned.
YouTube says that “The Nun” ad violates the company’s “shocking content policy” (feel free to write your own joke about YouTube and shocking content). However, in banning the ad, it appears that YouTube probably gave “The Nun” the very same publicity that would have been achieved by the short advertisement, or arguably even more.

In a tweet, Team YouTube explains the decision, “Appreciate you bringing this to our attention! This ad violates our shocking content policy and it’s no longer running as an ad.”
“The Nun” is the next installment in the ‘Conjuring’ universe that has spawned the already-successful spin-offs “Annabelle” and “Annabelle: Creation.” And in the most recent ‘Conjuring’ film, the breakout “star” was none other than a possessed nun that haunted our heroes. Since this is a franchise that capitalizes on any potential story ideas, the nameless, speechless character now has her own franchise.
“The Nun” comes from director Corin Hardy, who is probably best known for his first film “The Hallow” and the failed “Crow” reboot that was set to star Jason Momoa. It is set to be the fifth film in the ‘Conjuring’ cinematic universe, and will be followed by “Annabelle 3” and “The Conjuring 3.”
But even though the ad won’t be shown officially, that doesn’t mean the ad is lost forever. Users have already re-uploaded the ad, which is now going viral, and you can watch it below…if you dare!!! (Muah-ha-ha)
