A great production company logo is a beautiful thing. A movie feels incomplete, almost naked without them. The greatest, like the ones from Disney, MGM and 20th Century Fox, are like the perfect warm-up music for moviegoers. They excite you for the movie ahead, making you eager to watch what unfolds. It’s kinda magical, really, and among the best of them came from the ’80s, as highlighted in YouTuber Jonny Wurster’s montage reel (via Boing Boing).

If you’ve watched movies that originated before 1995, chances are you’ve seen these logos before. But as a little slice of nostalgia, you can certainly do worse. They hold a timeless quality, particularly the spots for Orion, Cannon and Carolco (though Orion has quietly returned recently). They’re #gonebutnotforgot. It’s like dusting off old VHS tapes and revisiting an old classic.
’80s nostalgia might be hot right now. Sometimes, though, it’s nice to be reminded of stuff that’s actually from the ’80s, you know? With that in mind, take a trip down memory lane.
