Screen Daily reports that Noomi Rapace ("Prometheus," "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") is in talks to player the artist in the untitled picture. Kirsten Sheridan ("August Rush") has written the script and will direct the picture that will tell the tale about the singer’s life. The all important music rights are currently being negotiated, but as we’ve learned from other biopics that have spent years in development, it’s not always an easy process to sort out, especially when estate’s get involved, and are very particular about how artists are portrayed.

So while this certainly interesting and eyebrow raising, but we’ll see how quickly it winds up moving, particularly as Winehouse’s father also has his own brewing movie about his daughter. But what do you think about Rapace as Winehouse? Let us know below.

  1. NOOMI RAPACE is the perfect casting! She is so brilliant I want so much more of her, if this film gets to be good she could even score an Oscar nomination. Go go Noomi!

  2. How has no one thought of Eva Green for the role? She has the same kind of magnetism as Amy – and I\’d love to see her chew through scenery playing vulnerable and volatile at the same time. Another offbeat choice might be Ruth Wilson. She\’s doing amazing work humanizing her character on The Affair (even if her \’side\’ isn\’t true, her depiction often makes Alison the one character whose voice and actions are the most discernible in their sections). She\’d be great at humanizing Amy, especially if the film takes a hard approach to how the press fetishized the singer as a caricature

  3. She has the acting chops but doing a \’cockney\’ accent or singing…no. Sarah Silverman looks more like Amy but she\’s far too old at 44, Amy died at 27. Roony Mara at 30, more suitable on all fronts imo. However, I\’d like to see someone not so well known…who has a good voice and can bring such a vivacious character to life on the big screen. In a similar vein to Chadwick Boseman\’s electric performance for the brilliant James Brown bio pic, Get On Up.

  4. Doesn\’t seem like a good idea considering she\’s one of those actresses who just can\’t get rid of her native accent like Marion Cotillard.
