Noël Wells recently popped up on our radar last year with her directorial debut “Mr. Roosevelt.” We enjoyed the film, and have been looking forward to what’s next on the actress’ docket. Well, in a new trailer for the film “Happy Anniversary,” we see Wells in what could be a pretty fun film.
While Wells didn’t write or direct “Happy Anniversary” (that went to “The Lego Batman Movie” writer Jared Stern), you can see her comedic sensibilities shine in the trailer. Sharing the screen with “Parks and Rec” star Ben Schwartz, the two actors play a couple that is going through a bit of a rut in their relationship. Everything started out great, but after a series of fights, the couple is at a crossroads.
“Happy Anniversary” is, yet another, Netflix Original Film. It does seem like we’re getting about three of these a week now, with not very good quality control (see reviews of “Bright” and “The Outsider” for just a taste). But what separates “Happy Anniversary” is the likable cast, with Wells and Schwartz joined by Annie Potts, Joe Pantoliano, and Kate Berlant.
Hopefully, this film furthers Wells’ star power, leading to more films from the actress and filmmaker.
The film is set to premiere on the streaming service March 30.
