A little more than two years ago, it was reported that Noah Centineo was attached to the new reboot of “Masters of the Universe.” The new film from directors Aaron and Adam Nee was set to revive the ‘80s franchise and turn Centineo into an action star. However, since that news, the film has been delayed numerous times and there were even rumors that Netflix might purchase the rights. Well, it appears the project is being forced back to square one as Centineo is moving on.
According to Collider, Noah Centineo is no longer set to star in the new “Masters of the Universe” film. And since you can’t have a He-Man movie without He-Man, it would appear the studio and the Nee Brothers are going to have to find a new actor to lead the film.
“He is no longer attached to that project,” said a rep for the actor.
“Masters of the Universe” follows the story of Prince Adam of Eternia. Except Adam is no ordinary Prince, as he also possesses the Power Sword, a weapon that when used grants the bearer the power of He-Man. This allows He-Man to join the fight against Skeletor and defend his realm. The film is based on the ‘80s action figure toy line and cartoon series. Previously, Dolph Lundgren starred in a version of the film from 1987. Though that film has a bit of a cult following, it’s not considered a classic of the genre by any stretch of the imagination.

Centineo is probably best known for his Netflix teen romance franchise, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” He’s also set to make his superhero film debut in Dwayne Johnson’s forthcoming “Black Adam.”
As for “Masters of the Universe,” despite the live-action film not having a star at this time, the franchise is getting a new animated series led by Kevin Smith, which will eventually land on Netflix.
