‘No Time To Die’ Super Bowl Spot: James Bond Uses His License To Kill One Last Time

When Daniel Craig finished the last James Bond movie, breaking his leg in the process, the actor thought he was done with the 007 series. “I had to question myself: Was I physically capable of doing [another one] or did I want to do another one? The villain of the movie is 38-year-old “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek. While several writers are credited, one of the ones who had a major influence on the cast is “Fleabag” star/writer/creator Phoebe-Waller Bridge who was called in late in the process to do a punch-up to characters and dialogue (it didn’t hurt that she already wrote the spy series “Killing Eve,” and Daniel Craig is a huge fan of hers).

“She had quite an impact on what I was doing,” Malek told EW. “I’d have long phone conversations with her, giving her context as to what we were essentially looking for in the scenes, and she would turn things over incredibly quickly. We know her as a very witty and funny writer, but she’s got a knack for drama and tension as well.”

Here’s the synopsis:

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time To Die” is directed by Cary Fukunaga, the Emmy winner behind “True Detective” season one and Netflix’s limited series “Maniac,” among films like “Beasts Of No Nation.” The film co-stars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, and Jeffrey Wright, plus an appearance from Christoph Waltz as Blofeld.
