England just announced the winners for their version of the Academy Awards, the BAFTAS, and surprise, surprise, “Slumdog Millionaire” was once again the film that couldn’t be beat! In fact, it would’ve swept the entire show, raking in 7 wins, if it hadn’t been for ‘Benjamin Button’ snatching 3 technical awards. We wonder, could this be the outcome for the Oscars in a few weeks? Quite possibly, as the Baftas have become more and more a predictor for the Oscars over the years. One thing is for sure though, and that is ‘Slumdog’ has certainly proven its worth becoming the most award-winning movie since “American Beauty” [that year – 1999 — it won 5 Baftas (including Best Pic), 3 Globes (including Best Pic), 3 Critics Choice (including Best Pic), 3 SAGs (including Best Ensemble), the DGA, the PGA, the WGA and the NBR’s Best Film of the Year] BEST PICTURE: Slumdog Millionaire

Here’s Mickey Rourke’s exception speech in all its expletive-filled glory.
What a speech…I wonder if the Academy is watching and wondering, “Do we really want to give him a chance to say whatever he wants?” NBC better be quick on those censors! I also wonder what Rourke’s sentimentality to Richard Harris is? Whatever the case, he’s right, as Harris was a damn fine actor.
Also, we really need to convince the Academy to play “Bang Your Head” for Rourke to walk up to if he does win 😉
ABC handle the Oscars cirkusfolk, not NBC.
Rourke is the greatest.
