We’ve been on a script-reading tear in the last few weeks and have devoured a ton of scripts, the most recent one being Diablo Cody’s “Jennifer’s Body,” her follow up to the teen sensation, “Juno.”
There’s lots to get into with the script and perhaps a proper review soon (it’s littered with pop culture references, but it’s wickedly wry, arch and nowhere near as annoying as “Juno” could be in moments), but much has been made about the make-out scene in the film with stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried.
But here’s the thing, there’s no such scene in the script. So is someone fibbing to generate press? Or has the script changed to accommodate such a titillating scene? Probably the latter, but that would suck, cause it wouldn’t be keeping with the tone of “Jennifer’s Body.” At least not exactly.
Without giving away a lot, there’s quite a bit of sexual tension in the screenplay between Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried’s bff characters, but wisely, it’s never consummated. It’s hinted at a few times, but perhaps, director Karyn Kusama wasn’t thinking subtlety was the way to go (or perhaps she’s directed one too many “L Word,” episodes to let that opportunity go).
The synopsis? A newly possessed cheerleader (Fox) turns into a killer who specializes in offing her male classmates. Can her best friend (Seyfried) put an end to the horror? Due in 2009, the black horror comedy stars Adam Brody as a super douchey emo-rocker (we’ll get into that in another post), J.K. Simmons (the father in “Juno”), Amy Sedaris (Seyfried’s mom) and Chip Dove (her boyfriend).
Oh yeah, Fox is all about titillating, she admitted to GQ magazine that she had a teenage lesbian affair with a Russian stripper. Maybe she asked for the scene herself.
