Got a Tip?

‘Nine’ Soundtrack Details: Album Hits Dec 22, Features Four Bonus Cuts, Including Noisettes Track

We’ve already revealed that the “Nine” soundtrack will feature three new songs and will arrive in stores on December 22, and now the artwork and final tracklist has arrived and it tells us who sings what and like all soundtracks, is pretty much in the order they’ll arrive onscreen. And actually, now there’s four bonus cuts.

Curiously enough, one of these extra tracks from the album comes from the U.K. soulful indie-rock pop band, The Noisettes who are doing the song, “Io bacio… tu baci” which is actually the name of a Piero Vivarelli 1961 Italian musical comedy, so presumably they’re covering that film’s theme song (we wonder if any of them will actually feature in the film). Ron Fair does a remix of a Kate Hudson song and there’s also a Griffith Frank song and additional Fergie track called, “Quando Quando Quando” (because you know you can’t get enough).

We’ve already heard Fergie sing, “Be Italian,” Marion Cotillard croon, “Take It All“, a snippet of Penelope Cruz doing, “A Call From The Vatican,” and Kate Hudson sing “Cinema Italiano” which is one of the few cuts from the film that wasn’t present in the original stage play.

Junketeers have already seen “Nine” (plus some critics as well) and evidently they did have to sign non-disclosure forms (someone we know actually told us they did so), but we are really itching to finally see it. “Nine” hit theaters December 18 in limited release and then December 25 wide.

Btw, why is it called “Nine,” you ask? The same logical reason why Federico Fellini’s “8 1/2” was given it’s title — which had nothing to do with the movie itself. Fellini had previously directed six features, two short segments, and a collaboration with another director (“Variety Lights,” which is known as a Fellini film, but actually co-credited with Alberto Lattuada) which he regarded as “half” film each,” which in his mind added up to “8 1/2” films. When Maury Yeston, who wrote the Tony Award-winning musical, transformed the film to its stageplay musical version he felt like it added “half a number more,” hence “Nine.” Earlier today we learned that Danny Boyle wanted “Nine” lead Daniel Day-Lewis for his adaptation of the musical, “My Fair Lady,” but he couldn’t score the actor so he walked off the project.
