And while folks in the British cinema scene already know his immense talent, for most folks stateside, it was his underrated turn opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in last year’s terrific "Nightcrawler" that was their first taste of his work. Well, if this pans out, soon the whole world will know his name.
The Wrap reports that the actor is in talks for a lead role "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One." Meanwhile, Sam Claflin is the frontrunner slot for a supporting gig. there are no details of who he might be playing in the Gareth Edwards directed movie about a rebel group who attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star.

Meanwhile, MTV caught up with Ben Mendelsohn who danced around chatter that he’s also in the movie. But with the movie slated for release next year, things are going to start getting firmed up soon.
Love Riz Ahmed – such a talented and intelligent actor. Delighted to see him getting greater opportunities. The same goes for Mendelsohn – I only wish someone would have the balls to cast him as something other than the villain. It\’s such uninspired casting – and actually, as a flat out villain, he\’s not that great. Compare his performance in the Dark Knight Rises vs his performance in Animal Kingdom for example. Perhaps the part in Star Wars is a more nuanced character, but I can\’t imagine it is… But think what a terrific flawed hero he could be. I wish someone would give him a shot at it.
