There are few things everybody likes about the "Star Wars" prequels, but the acting is not one of them. Though in defense of the actors — among them usually-reliable folks like Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ewan McGregor — they were working with some terrible scripts, and with George Lucas, who isn’t exactly known for eliciting the most colorful performances out of his cast. Hayden Christensen probably got some of the worst criticism — some of it deserved, though it wasn’t entirely his fault either — but he does have one defender in his corner: Nicolas Cage.
Out doing press for his latest movie of the week, "Outcast," Cage singled out his co-star Christensen’s work in the "Star Wars" prequels while sporting the greatest hair ever. “And so, I watched George’s movies, and the work Hayden did with George, and I was very impressed with Hayden’s sort of edgy, dangerous, dark and still soulful performance," Cage explained to IGN. "I thought it was superb. And so I really connected with him.”
Cage also really likes Hayden’s sad eyes.
If someone could just start a show with Cage talking about the various qualities of the actors he’s worked with, I’d watch it in a second. But for now, I guess I have a reason to watch "Outcast." Watch Cage be Cage below.
Cage knows Hayden is a lousy actor he\’s trying to save his new movie Outcast by propping him up. Hayden\’s boring performances show his limited range as an actor. His pretty boy look is better suited for another line of work or a small supporting role with few lines.
Hayden didn\’t have a bad performance, just bad lines. George Lucas\’s undeserved fame came from his editors, and when he struck them down in the making of the phantom menace, he became more powerful than anyone could have possibly imagined, which unfortunately led to a movie that was seemingly directed on the first draft of a script filled with idiotic dialogue, non-focused and unimportant plot points, and a focus on marketing so strong there is a half hour podracing scene made entirely to promote the video game. So yeah, hayden wasn\’t bad, just bad writing.

A guy who can\’t act supporting one of the worst performances in the past 20 years. Makes sense.
his performance in \’Shattered Glass\’ was oscar worthy
Christensen was excellent in "Shattered Glass" but he has had such a wildly uneven career. I think Star Wars was the worst thing that could have happened to him though. Then again, others from those prequel films survived, but mostly, I think, because of what they had done previously to prove themselves.

Idk why hayden get\’s so much thought the prequels were better than the original\’s as bold as that may sound he made people have sympathy for darth vader which is a hard thing to do def one of the most under rated actor\’s
Hayden proved himself with his FIRST movie which was Life As A House with a Golden Globe nomination as well. However, Lucas did not help his career as it should have. Hayden will be around for a long while, his acting skills in all other roles have progressively gotten better but the depth he had at the "get go" is still strong. His role with Adrien Brody in American Heist will show that and yes…even in Outcast. It is the directors "first timeout" as well as the writers so let\’s all just give Hayden some respect, he DOES deserve better roles!

Cool, Cage has something in common with him – Hayden hunted and exterminated Jedi on the big screen, while Cage has been laboring under the belief that he\’s been doing the same but in real life.
