The announcement of a new Nicolas Cage film project is almost a bit like Mad Libs. You start with Nicolas Cage and a film. Then to come up with the plot, co-stars, and filmmaker, you just randomly pick some nouns, adjectives, and names out of a hat. But you know what? We wouldn’t have it any other way. And with that in mind, let’s talk about the upcoming film “Pig.”
According to Deadline, Cage has been cast in the upcoming thriller, “Pig.” And if you’re sitting there thinking, “Sorry, but I’m just fully done with this Nic Cage shit, and there’s nothing you can say that will win me back.” Well what if I said that “Pig” is basically “John Wick” but with Cage and a truffle-hunting animal? The smile on your face betrays your anti-Cage words. “Pig” sounds batshit crazy and awesome. There’s no denying it.
“Pig” tells the story of a man (Cage), who is a truffle-hunter by trade, that has to recover his kidnapped pig in the Pacific Northwest. See? “John Wick” meets truffles.
Joining Cage in the cast is Alex Wolff, who is probably best known from his incredible performance in “Hereditary” as well as being part of the insanely popular “Jumanji” reboot franchise. So, we have Nicolas Cage, a great premise, and a talented co-star. What about the filmmaker?
Well, the report says that “Pig” will be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who is probably best known for his 2012 series “Olympia,” and is making his feature film debut on this project.

“What began as a very personal project has transformed into a labor of love for so many talented people. I’m thrilled for us all to be bringing this strange world to life,” said director Sarnoski.
So, while we don’t know if this will be an expertly-crafted film, Sarnoski is clearly passionate about the story and is a strong up-and-coming talent. He co-wrote the script with writer Vanessa Block.
Block said, “Sometimes a unique set of circumstances exists for the telling of a pure human story. The creative alchemy of a phenomenal cast and crew has further actualized this magic we’re eager to share with others.”
Production on “Pig” has just begun, but no official release date has been given.
