Barry Jenkins & Nicholas Britell Reflect On ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’s’ Score [Exclusive]

Both are talented creators in their own right, but there is already something special about the collaborations between director Barry Jenkins and composer Nicholas Britell.  They each earned Oscar nominations for their work on Jenkins’ Best Picture-winning “Moonlight” and now, hopefully, will do the same with his follow up, “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

Britell, who has also scored films such as “Vice,” “The Big Short” as well as HBO‘s “Succession, has outdone himself with a rapturous and heartbreaking score for “Beale Street.” Combined with James Laxton’s gorgeous cinematography, an A-worthy cast, and Jenkins’ compassionate, artful direction it’s one reason why the Annapurna release was one of my top 10 films of the year.
