Got a Tip?

New ‘Wolfman’ Trailer: Less Embarrassing, More Rock N’ Roll

Though it does look like one extended music video for AFI or [insert spooky metal band] here, the new Joe Johnston trailer for “The Wolfman,” starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and the great Geraldine Chaplin is a significant improvement from the last, fairly corny trailer, is high on the dark gothic atmosphere, and actually gives off whiffs of hope that the picture could turn into decent escapist entertainment come February.

The film has been plagued with reshoots, and several release date bumps that have all lent the picture an air of bad buzz, but this could be the turning point.

In past interviews Toro has hinted towards vintage Wolfman textures, but they haven’t really been demonstrated until now, but then again, there really has been extensive reshoots on this one to get it right. We can’t imagine what this thing must have cost in the end, but at least it’s no longer looking embarrassing, so they’ve done something right. We await it with tentative anticipation. Maybe it’ll at least be a popcorn-level horror/thriller that’s at least marginally entertaining? That’s probably the best we can hope for. “The Wolfman,” hits theaters February 12, 2010.
