OK, so we made this “Wolfman” poster 444 pixels high so now that means we have to write enough chum fille insightful analysis to fill this post.
The new “Wolfman,” poster has debuted via Cinematical this evening, and it’s about 99% less lupine-like then we’re used to.
In fact, since there are so many female writers over at Cinematical, perhaps this black-and-white poster featuring a frightened, but resilient Emily Blunt was tailor-made for them in an attempt to appeal to their Girl Power?
Where’s the Werewolf? Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins or Hugo Weaving?
They must be hiding. The Joe Johnston-directed film has been plagued with delays, but the most recent trailer was less embarrassing then usual, so maybe we’ll have some light popcorn entertainment when this thing hits on February 12.
Two days before Valentine’s day and Emily Blunt is in it? We smell a unrequited love story. Hey, maybe it’s “Twilight” with Werewolves? Oh nevermind…
oh, man. does anyone know how to sell a movie anymore. jesus christ, emily blunt is so far from a household name its not even funny. How about a sillohette of Del Toro. something, anything better than this. this will not grab peoples attention in the lobby at all.
I disagree with Anonymous above. It's eye-catching and a great compliment to the 2 or 3 trailers, and standard-type posters that will be out.
I agree it shouldn't be the centerpiece of their marketing campaign (I don't think it is though) but it's way better than most character posters that have been released recently for other movies like Sherlock Holmes.
And sure Emily Blunt is not a household name, but the poster doesn't exactly emphasize her name.
this looks like they're marketing it as your average teen horror feb-march dump season crap. It's quite misleading. Although i will admit, playing down the period piece element probably will help.
The marketing department is shoehorning it into Twilight/Transformers… unfortunately it was written/directed/shot as the total opposite. Convoluted mess. Fail.
is everyone here marketing majors all of a sudden or what? I mean I'm in the process but jeeze, one poster is hardly a campaign…
OK, idiots… there are actually TWO POSTERS for this film, not just one. You can see the other at AICN. Of course it depicts the titular character. And of course a film like this is going to have a multipronged marketing approach. More than half of the horror market is female… so they're going to sell the woman in jep/love story plot even if it's not the biggest part of the film.
Hey idiot. At the time there was only one poster. The other one was released until hours later.
