Slow news day it seems.
Last summer Will Ferrell told Hitflix (here’s the cached link too) about the possibility of “Anchorman 2” likely not happening. “I thought we were [doing it]. Yeah. I kept saying that. I was told we were. And now I’ve heard it’s too hard to get everyone together,” Ferrell lamented. “So hopefully Adam’s going to be able to talk to all of the guys individually and see if there’s a time and place we can figure out how to do this.”
Then allegedly speaking to Zoo Magazine (via ContactMusic) Ferrell apparently said, “I thought we were doing it. I was told it was happening and now I’ve heard it’s going to be too hard to get everyone together. Hopefully the director Adam McKay will be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if we can figure it out.”
So yeah, Zoo Magazine, whoever they are, are republishing old quotes, Contact Music took the bait and so did the rest of the Internet (even us earlier in the day; the story was taken down when we realized). So yeah, “Anchorman 2” is no more in doubt than it was last year. As you were and stay classy regardless San Diego.
Zoo Magazine are an Australian soft porn/trash magazine that has no credibility, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that they would steal quotes from other publications without giving proper credit.
Helpful reminder that magazines are not automatically better than blogs, I guess. Glad somebody caught this.
Oh and it's Hitfix, no "l".
Thanks for finally an outlet that catches BS.
I'm Will's publicist and this story came from a "journo" in London named Ivy Joan Wright…author of the story a few months ago where Will was buying a "proper English pub as that is his lifelong dream" and the author of the other doozy where Will was going to buy a Second Division football club as "that is his lifelong dream."
A2 is definitely percolating…
