While it might be a little strange that one of the most exciting cinematic events of this month is a short film that’s premiering online and doubles as an advertisement for a luxury car brand, such are the times we live in. And frankly, we’ll take a fully thought-through film concept over Matthew McConaughey getting behind the wheel and mumbling a lot of nonsense. In other words, “The Escape” looks great.

Directed by Neill Blomkamp, and starring Clive Owen, Dakota Fanning, and Jon Bernthal, the film is a relaunch of BMW’s great campaign from years back where they hired a slew of big directorial talent — Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, John Frankenheimer, Wong Kar-Wai, John Woo, Joe Carnahan, and Tony Scott — to make a series of action-packed shorts around their cars. Well, Owen is back reprising his role once again, and this looks like fun stuff. No word yet on the exact plot, but basically, it’s Owen plus driving plus explosions, all in the hands of the man behind “District 9” and “Chappie.” We’re in.
