The standard rules for horror films are pretty simple, and mostly involve staying away from creepy places. Of course, those rules are routinely broken, which leads to all kinds of terror. And if we know anything from horror films, it’s this — stay away from the creepy forest. Of course, no one in “The Ritual” heeds that advice.
The new movie from David Bruckner (“V/H/S,” “Southbound“) stars Rafe Spall, Robert James-Collier, Arsher Ali and Sam Troughton, and follows four pals who go on a hiking trip, and decide to take a shortcut. I probably don’t even need to tell you what happens next. Here’s the official synopsis:
A group of college friends reunite for a trip to the forest, but encounter a menacing presence in the woods that’s stalking them.
“The Ritual” opens in the U.K. on October 13th, but there’s no word yet on a U.S. date.
